To live debt free is more a habit that a matter of having a lot of money. So that’s why it requires discipline and establishing goals in order to live a debt free life.

Many people think that if someone earns a big salary , it means more capacity to pay their debts and in this way, a debt free life, but that is far from the truth, especially because the more money you earn the higher debts you can have, so the cycle will repeat again and at that time with higher debts.

So, how do you develop the habit to have a debt free life?

Let’s summarize some actions you can start applying today:

1. Establish a daily budget (how much you can spend daily).

2. At the end of the day check if you followed the budget.

3. If you didn’t follow your budget, try to save some money the next day. If you followed it, save this money.

4. Try to pay using cash or debit card (save the receipt for your daily checking)

5. At the end of the week see how much money you have (if you were able to save some you are on the right track, if no try to save some the next week)

Practice this for some weeks and see for yourself the results, at the beginning you will save only, let’s say, 2 of 7 days of the week, then this amount will increase gradually until you have a good habit on the way you manage your money.

With this simple 5 steps you will assure you start living a debt free life. This is just the beginning, add to it other financial tools and you can even start using all the money you will save on a weekly basic to even generate more income (investing can be an option).
